guest room updates & plans

A few years ago I decorated our guest room, a couple months after we moved in.  Sorry for the terrible photos...clearly I was just starting out, and really didn't know what I was doing.
I loved the makeover, but there were still a lot of elements missing, and so now I'm continuing on to get this room to where we want it.  The first step was new bedding.  This actually happened because when Roxy was still a puppy, she decided it would be fun to tear some holes in the original duvet.

I found this pin tuck comforter and sham set at Marshall's for only $40! The striped pillow is from Ikea.
We also installed a ceiling fan in this room because it is almost always the hottest room in the house.  It's south facing, so the sun just beats down through the window and makes it pretty uncomfortable, even with the A/C on.
Another addition to the room is this long dresser.  It was actually my brother's, growing up, but he didn't want it when he moved out.  My parents didn't need it, so free dresser for Erin & Matt!  We don't love its orange-y finish, so we'll update it sometime soon(ish).  My hubby was never crazy about the bright pink dresser, and I'm pretty ready for something a little more sophisticated.  The mirror may or may not stick around.
I really love how Jenna Sue stripped down this dresser and kept it natural, so we may go this route. In fact, her entire master bedroom makeover is stunning, so you should probably go check it out!
Some other projects we need to tackle in this room are...the window seat. It needs a cushion, pillows and I'm going to make a valance for up against the window.  I still love the white curtains I picked up at Ikea about 5 years ago.
For the cushion, I am thinking along the lines of some of these inspiration photos...
We need to add a headboard and something else above it as well.  This is something we've already started cooking up over here, so I'll hopefully have this ready to share next week! We still have our cabinet-turned-night-stand in the corner, but I'm not sure if that will stick around or not
I'll be sharing updates in this room as we complete them, so be sure to follow-along!
